And then Mountains: Day 3 |

After lunch, Cristian joined the four of us on a drive up to Valle Nevado, a ski resort in the Andes Mountains,
less than two hours from Santiago.![]() |

The mountain road has about 60 hairpin turns, or curvas, many of which are labeled with the number. We made several stops to enjoy the views and, of course, to take pictures and more pictures. | |

| Cristián, the only one of us without a camera, could simply enjoy the scenery and the experience! | ![]() |

| There weren't a whole lot of people along the way, but we did see some animals. | ||
|
Some even stopped to watch us...

We think this bird that Artie and Margy checked out through the sunroof is a condor, Chile's national bird.![]() |

| Near the top of the mountain, at the ski resort we checked out the pool, giftshop, lounges and trail map. Nice place, even out of season! | ||

| On the way back to Artie and Margy's, we stopped at a huge supermarket to do some shopping for supper. This was just part of the section just for merlot in the wine department! We have found that even the smaller markets have a wide selection of good wines here. | ![]() |

Cristián's girlfriend, Antonia, joined the five of us for a simple supper, and before they left, Cristián autographed his latest CD for Den and Cari. | ![]() |
